Our Story

My Design Journey begins with my job!.

I have been creating designs, illustrations and offering them on products of assorted varieties. With this ability, I can offer to more people with similar interests, backgrounds and sense of humor.

I am a school bus driver, but long before I began that career, I was a mother, and grandmother. I grew up in a small farm house in rural Iowa. I was one of five kids. My parents struggled to survive, living paycheck to paycheck, and raising our own food to help out. We had a garden, which we canned food to maintain throughout the year. We had chickens, pigs, horses and an occasional access to a milking cow, or to butcher. My mother worked 2-3 jobs, one being a bus driver, as well. This showed her work ethic and determination to provide for her family, alongside my Dad.

Many years of various jobs, after college, concentrating on business, accounting and administrative duties. All of those, I excelled at, however, none of them allowed me to spend time with my family, as much as I wanted to. This gave me time to raise my children, use my time and love to share with others, having an in-home daycare for nearly 15 years while they were younger. I now, spend my days with grown and mostly grown children of my own, grandchildren that don't live nearby and time on my hands. I decided to leave the daycare era, and work online during my spare time. I've sold on eBay, Amazon, created websites for traffic sources, and other services, which didn't leave me the drive that I desired.

The idea of driving for the school that my 3 youngest children attended, was brought up by a friend, just before COVID-19 closed down everything. During that summer, I learned, got my CDL and have worked for the school over the last 5 years. My last 2 children will be graduating in the next 3 years, and I'll be back to a lot more time on my hands again.

Being a bus driver, surrounded by school staff and faculty, it was also mentioned for me to put my education to use, and I became a certified substitute teacher. With this responsibility, put me in company with a lot more children than my bus route requires, and I try to keep positive and upbeat, which requires a sense of humor. My second language is sarcasm, and students, teachers and other drivers see it on a daily basis.

A niece of mine showed me some ideas with AI, graphic design and other things, to express my humor and have some fun with it. I recently put it to use designing some graphics for our fire department, which I am a board member on. This led to adding them to T-shirts for an upcoming training and event. This is where Tishy Tees came about, then I had the idea of other creations and ran with the idea. I made a few, with sayings that I'd frequently heard, and thought: "I could put that on a T-shirt!" and here I am, wanting to share my designs with others that find the sayings, the graphics and the idea, to their liking too.
