The Lutz Skroo-Zon File is made with a White Birch handle and heavy steel gauge ferrule. 

This handle is different from others and is preferred by many because the file screws onto a hardened steel insert inside the handle. 

It stays on because it screws on - the handle insert cuts a thread on the file tang. Skroo-Zon handles do not break because no strain comes on the wood.
