Pair 2 MI R.R.Cornwell Oil Painting Maritime Detroit Artist MCM Illustrative

$ 325.00

Up for consideration is a fine pair of MCM abstract paintings of turburlent water by Richard Ray Corwell...they measure 16 by 20 and look to be painted as a pair with some balancing symmetrical work in the waves shown by the artist. They are signed simply 1 and 2. Both paintings are signed and dated on the back. Likewise the one painting is signed in script on the bottom right. If you have any questions concerns or something to share please message me. Buyer pays shipping.

Biography via Askart:  Maritime artist Richard R. Cornwell was born on May 4th, 1938, and raised near the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron, Michigan.  Much of his childhood was spent swimming and playing near the mouth of the St. Clair River where he was inspired by the steady parade of ships and lighthouses.  He knew from a very early age that he was destined to share all that he had seen and marveled at through art.

He started his art career with a four-year apprenticeship in advertising design and private study in fine arts. For thirty years he was an illustrator for Freuhauf Corporation, General Motors, and Ford, from where he retired to devote his full attention to fine arts and traveling.

Acrylics and Watercolors are Cornwell's favorite media.  He arrives at his final compositions after creating hundreds of small pen and ink sketches, both on site and in his studio.  He takes great joy in receiving feedback on his work because he strives to incite the viewers to feel the same reverence for his subject matter as he does.

Mr. Cornwell's work is included in the Dossin Great Lakes Maritime Museum on Belle Isle in Detroit, Michigan; and the Port Huron Historical Museum, in Port Huron Michigan.  He is a member of the American Society of Marine Artists, Treasure Coast Art Association, and the Hilton Head Art League
