Up for consideration is an Antique Oil on Canvas Large Portrait Painting of a
young beautiful girl set in clouds in an oval frame with an old Label from San Francisco California. The Label on the back that has deteriorated but reads "Jones, Wooll & Sutherland Gilders and Composition Ornamenters.....89 Montgomery near California San Francisco". There is penciled information claiming it was done around 1847 and the portrait is of "Emma Baker". Please understand the intact label is just a photograph googled from the internet....but the old battered label that is present on the back matches exactly . Overall dimensions are about 29 by about 32 inches...The painting has some light overall craquelure with the frame itself being in excellent condition. This is a great old painting with a wonderful American Gothic look and of course represents a piece of Old California History. Please note I have attached a copy of what the intact label would have looked like when complete. That label has been given a date of about 1855.
