Up for consideration is an antique portrait of younger man in half bust setting.
The painting from the back measures about 22 by 27 inches with the overall dimensions of the frame being 33 inches by 38 inches. The painting is monogrammed in a conjoined jD and dated 1876. Please understand that this is no ordinary frame as it is curved inwards and literally swallows a contemporary water bottle for fun. In real viewing it is the best of the best...it will literally blow you away...thick robust incredible mould work deep curvature...in short frames as such were for rich business man or State Politician etc...this frame could handle a super high end painting that is searching for the proper work of art of Portrait...or enjoy as such...not sure who the Gentleman is. please see photos as part of the description... The original strether is still present and of which the canvas portrait has been mounted on an early type of illustration board from the turn of the century. The stretcher has a lap joint and when viewing the back of the frame it is conducive to the construction of a period piece of that era or earlier... this frame is a heavy hitter and could handle a very pricey work of art from the time era...in short it is not lacking in quality and comes nicely in original untouched condition...
