Antique Staffordshire Rabbitware 9 1/4" Plate, Bulls-Eye Stick Spatterware Ironstone c. 1900

$ 225.00
This c. 1900 antique Staffordshire English Ironstone Rabbitware 9 1/4" plate
with a Bulls-Eye pattern center features a black transfer-printed landscape with gray rabbits and hard to find hand painted green frogs along the outer rim.

The center pattern is decorated with a vibrant, hand painted folk art pattern consisting of stylized dark blue leaves, red accents, and a geometric starburst medallion in the direct center.

This collectible genre combines transfer printing for the animal border with traditional stick spatter (spongeware) techniques for the hand painted enamels.

It is in beautiful antique condition showing age appropriate glaze crazing and areas with under-glaze discoloration/staining characteristic of 120-year-old ironstone. There is a small chip on the reverse side along the edge. This is shown in last two pictures (same chip just two different views). Skips in the glazing are also present. Please be sure to view all pictures along with using the zooming feature.

Stand is not included.
