0136----1853 Parmelia Storms - Panton VT Vergennes original deed

Original deed transfer from Parmelia Storms to Silas Pond, 1853. Parmelia was selling the land that was passed down from her mother Parmelia Storms (d. 1851) and sister Susannah Storms (d. 1845). Also mentioned in the deed is the land liquidated from her sister Nancy Storms (d. 1861). The Storms were very well known in Panton and Vergennes Vermont, and remain a very important of the history of Addison County. Silas Pond was also very well known in Panton as a very active civic leader. This document was acquired with a large lot of random papers from the 1800s. The document is in VG condition with natural folds for filing and some minor separation at the folds. Measurements are 13-1/2 x 8-3/4. Research is not included with the sale of this item. I Parmelia Storms of Vergennes in the County of Addison and state of Vermont for the consideration of seven hundred and thirty four dollars paid to my full satisfaction, by Silas Pond of Panton in the county of Addison and state of Vermont have and by these presents do freely give, grant, sell. convey and confirm unto the said Silas, his heirs and assigns forever a certain piece of land lying and being in Panton in the county of Addison and state of Vermont described as follows viz:  All land set to me as my share in the estate of Susannah Storms deceased, by the distributors of said estate and containing by the survey by the late Truman Grandy Esq., January the 7th AD 1847 seven acres and 109 rods of land, more or less.  Also all the land set to my late mother Parmelia Storms, by the same distributors, as her share in the estate by the said Susannah Storms + containing by the survey thereof made by the said Grandy at the same date, six acres and 141 rods more or less. And also all the land set to my sister Nancy Storms, by the same distributors as her share in the estate of said Susannah Storms and containing by the survey thereof made by the said Grandy, at the same date, seven acres + 109 rods more or less -- all of said land being part of Lot number 35 in the first Divison of Panton a foresaid, laid to the original sight of Samuel Norton + for a further + more helpful distribution thereof reference being had to the survey aforesaid of record in the Probate Office of the Probate Court for the District of New Haven in the County of Addison aforesaid. To have and to hold, the above granted bargained premises, with all the privileges and appurtenances therof, to the said Silas, his heirs and assigns, to his and their own use and behoof forever: and I, the said Parmelia for myself and my heirs, executors and administrators, do covenant with the said Silas, his heirs and assigns, that until the ensealing of these presents, I am the sole owner of the premises, and that they are free from every incumbrance and I hereby engage to Warrant and Defend the same against all lawful claims whatsoever.
