0506----1909 WESTERN PENITENTIARY PITTSBURGH POSTCARD - PIRATE GAME REFERENCE Original Western Penitentiary postcard, Pittsburgh, postmarked Sept 6, 1909. Correspondence makes note "we are going to the ball game in a little while." The Pirates went on to win the World Series in 09, the first year playing at Forbes Field. Unless the sender is planning an escape, this was sent from a local tourist to a friend in Franklin PA. This postcard encompasses two of America's favorite pastimes:  crime and sports. The Pirates lost both games of this Sept 6th doubleheader vs the Chicago Cubs,  with Tinker, Evers, and Chance (and Honus Wagner) all playing in both games. No TEC double play, but Tinker hit a homerun, and Wagner was involved in two DPs. Review all the research, however it is all digital and CANNOT be included.
