Original 1863 Civil War document concerning Paymaster Major Edmund E. Paulding.
He has just delivered $95,000 to Paymaster Major A.D. Robinson in Washington DC,
which was intended for the pay of the 2 and 3 year volunteers.
Paulding was originally from Kingston NY, and eventually went to Minnesota and
entered the newspaper business.
He was involved in a banking scandal and was court martialed in 1866 for
"mishandling" funds.
