Original and historic letter from "Alexander C. Caine" of the Auditor of State
Office of Ohio
to his friend Orrin Henry of Bowling Green Ohio, concerning the death of Orrin's
wife.
A short condolence note on official State Auditor letterhead (and envelope),
April 23, 1891.
Those from Bowling Green and Columbus are most likely familiar with Captain
Orrin Henry,
the well known night watchman at the Ohio Penitentiary in Columbus.
Caine was also a well known politician and civic leader in Perry County,
Columbus and later Wash DC.
He was a close friend of Governor and President McKinley (see obit).
The letter is one page, in Vg condition -- original envelope included
"My Dear Captain
Words fail to express to you the deep sympathy
I feel for you in the loss of your Dear Devoted Wife.
Your friend
A.C. Caine."
