5084----1836 NY HERALD LOT- RP ROBINSON JOURNAL ALLEGED HELEN JEWETT MURDERER This lot consists of 3 original issues of the 1836 New York Herald, which include  the journal of Richard P. Robinson, alleged murderer of Helen Jewett, but was ultimately acquitted. The case is often considered the first "sensationalized" murder case in journalism history. (Search online for all the info available as well as "James Gordon Bennett" the well known publisher of the New York Herald) This journal was kept by Robinson in 1833, and printed before the trial began in 1836. The issues are as follows: May 26, 1836 -- Introduction to the journal, preface, bio, and other facts of the case.  Covers Oct 6th - Oct 12th, 1833 May 27, 1836 -- The journal continues and covers Oct 13th - Nov 9th, 1833 May 27, 1836 -- (Extra edition) -- The journal is printed in it's entirety The newspapers are original and in overall good condition. The May 26 and 27 issues are complete with 4 pages.  The May 27 "Extra" has two pages. The May 26th issue has a long tear that affects page 3 and 4, but it is still completely readable. We have photo'd most of the journal for review. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
