7061----1977 Secret Service engraved wood retirement plaque - Lt. Donald Keller

7061----1977 SECRET SERVICE ENGRAVED WOOD RETIREMENT PLAQUE - LT. DONALD KELLER Original 1977 hand made wood plaque for the retirement of Lieutenant Donald Keller, a member of the United States Secret Service Uniformed Division, who retired in August of 1977. Formerly known as the Executive Protection Service from 1970-1977. Engraved wood burned design of EPS badge, as well as the surnames of 18 fellow members. Those names are as follows: Dortch, Lombard, Miller, Wilkerson, Courtney, Walters, Mason, Sowards, Somin, Hornyak, Fry, Lozinsky, Bush, Franchak, Smith, Luskie, Sanders, and Lt. Beckwith. Lt. Keller passed away in 2011 in Bowie MD, and Lt. Beckwith left a nice memorial online for his fellow officer (see image). I did find a short note on John Ronald "Ronn" Luskie noted above (see image). In addition there is a fine interview with Stephen Hornyak online from 2016. There is also a wish engraved at the top: "May God Stay With You Lieutenant" The plaque is made of two pieces of wood nailed together, then cut to shape. There are four holes drilled in the bottom to accommodate four legs which are not present. This could have been designed as a small coffee table, but I am leaning toward this originally intended as a step stool for display. Now without the legs it really is a fine wood plaque. Measuring 17-1/2 x 11-1/8 x 1-1/2 and weighing approx 4 pounds.
