Description
N088----1930 FRANKLIN PA ORIGINAL NEGATIVES - HIGH SCHOOL "SKIDDING" PLAY
Two original negatives of the cast of Franklin High School (Franklin PA) posing
during the production of a play called "Skidding" in 1930.
Luckily, the old envelope the negatives were stored had a notation "Skidding" so
I researched and found this play to be on Broadway in the late 20's. I was able
to find a news article about this play in the "Oil City Derrick" of 1930 which
even has a photo of the star "Robert Cole" a senior at Franklin High School. The
play was performed on April 23, 24, 25, 1930 in the high school auditorium. By
looking at the photo of Robert in the newspaper, I am 99% sure that is him
standing at the bottom of the staircase.
According to the article, Cole lived at 313 Liberty Street in Franklin PA.
He was also the Class President and later attended Allegheny College in
Meadville PA.
Interesting to add that the return address on the envelope is pre-printed "The
White House" and was sent to an employee at the newspaper "Franklin News
Herald."
My scanned image has been cropped from the original negative for display in this
auction.
Scanned images are NOT included.
Original images are more in focus than I am able to present in this listing.
The negatives are both approx 8 x 10 and in EX condition.
ABSOLUTELY NO RETURNS ON ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHS AND/OR NEGATIVES.
