Up for consideration is a vintage/contemporary Oil Painting by Michigan
artist Maureen S. Riley (1963-2016). The painting measures 10 inches in height by 18 inches. This is a study of a grouping or pride of lions in motion. It is unsigned and is unframed...it is done on a very nice birch wood ply panel...It comes from a clean nonsmokers environment. Maureen had a Studio in Pinckney of which we were able to purchase the contents of the studio from sketches, Sculptures to studies..models maquettes as well as a multitude of paintings and bronzes. The artist traveled abroad and was interested in hunting/working dogs among as well general wildlife sculptures from otters to gorillas. Her art work is dispersed all over the planet with commissions both here and abroad. She displayed her artwork at various art shows also. Her works have also be photographed and featured as cover art for books as well as featured articles on working dogs both on farms in traditional manner as well as hunting both in the field and water. There is a book Terrierman and Terriers I and book II by John Broadhurst of which profiles a variety of dogs and their owners in relation to activities and their working relationships of which features her bronze Jumping Jack & Flash a grouping of Terriers...on the cover...how cool is that!
