up for consideration is fine old oil painting/ study or portraiture of a Bay
horse Circa 1883 owned and driven by Charles Haight of NJ. The painting measures unframed 19.25 by 23.75 inches with overall dimensions slightly larger when including the frame. The painting is well done and according to the historical information on the back was owned and used by Charles Haight (January 4, 1838 – August 1, 1891) was an American lawyer and Democratic Party politician who represented New Jersey's 2nd congressional district in the United States House of Representatives from 1867 to 1871..of which afterwords practiced law. According to the historical information on the back this is a portrait of one of the 2 carriage horses that were owned and driven by Mr. Haight. Furthermore the horses were lent out to Mr.s Lockman during the summer Months residence at the Old Monmouth House in Spring Lake New Jersey. It also states that this painting was done in Allaire NJ in and around 1883. Apparently there were 2 portraits, one each horse. This was purchased at an old estate of which the person collected an enormously large amount of Horse/Equestrian related items over the decades. All in all a bit of a provenance and of course an even better painting... Not sure if it is signed as there may be some smaller and larger letter in the lower center and lower right. Nonetheless the painting is outstanding and stands on it's own merit. There are a few great artists in and around that time era working out on the East Coast. Further research is necessary and with a little digging something may yield...please understand paintings of this quality with a provenance and historical significance are extremely desirable. If you have any questions or something to share please message me. Buyer pays shipping. Guaranteed original old painting with full money back guarantee...please take a look my other offering if you have time thanks. Please note painting will be hand delivered or Express shipped...signature confirmation is required. Best Regards,JohnJohnnyCrystal Est. 1987
