Up for consideration is a is an extremely well done Trompe Loeil Still life of cigar Champagne lobster and all the trimmings. It is signed and 'Miro Vratney 2006" in the lower right. It comes from an estate of which the fellow with deep pockets filled his estate with wonderful paintings both antique and contemporary with hopes of being a gallery owner. Well that never really transpired but that is ok. Some of our best plans and intentions get side tracked or blocked completely. Did I ever tell you the time I...

It measures 20.5 X 24 inches.

Trompe L'oeil meaning to trick the eye and this is what it is. The painting is so good and lifelike it looks as if someone can reach out and grab the glass. This technique has been existence for centuries but goes in and out of fashion more or less. It was revived sometime around the turn of the last century where artist made many paintings of old pinup  boards that had notes on them keys sometimes even a wooden panel with some grapes hanging...some pieces were are very convincing. Likewise others have created walls within houses or simply repaint furniture such as a plain set of closet doors that turns into a an 18th century French armoire.
