Chinese Blue Pottery Censer Lamp Sculpted Diorama mkd Openwork Yun Ju Ware

$ 750.00

Up for consideration is a very unusual Oriental carved or Sculpted scenic Diorama open work censer Vase Urn lamp. The interior has a wonderful Diorama of a Small house and trees similar to what is seen in cork work carvings or dioramas. In this situation the diorama is made of pottery or clay and is part of the lamp. The overall dimensions are 18 inches which includes the double wooden base. The lamp on first stand measure 12 inches. It has an indiscernable mark on the base please see photos. It has a little bit of weight to it as it is a heavier clay as opposed to a fine porcelain.  The lid is removable and is open fretwork not only for decoration aesthetics but it allows heat and light to escape...and quite possible was a censer at one point in it's life so burning incense also. The electrical cord etc...indicates that it was wired at some time in the 1920's or so and in fact may be originally a lamp or something from earlier times such as a functioning senser. I have been buying and selling lighting for about 25 years and considered to be a very active person and have yet to be able to encounter a piece as such...which of course is no big surprise however I really can't find anything in the historical record either once again not of any real consequence however one might consider it as hard to find etc...and that opens the door to another world which means it might be rare. Whether that means it's valuable is another matter...nonetheless...It is attractive in fantastic condition meaning...one can take the lid off and there are no chips cracks or repairs...there appears to be a white spot above the decorative handle on the left side. I purchased it while it rested on an additional wooden stand which may or may not be original. If you have any questions concerns or something to share please message me. Oh and a final issue please do not plug this in the wiring is cracked the cord is old and crusty and is similar to wiring found in pre code wall sconces and chandeliers meaning in the pre 1920's...so please remove the wiring if one plans on using it and replacing and again a very low wattage bulb will be necessary and it is a smaller socket bulb often associated with turn of the century lighting and ambience lighting of the Art Deco and early Days of the Radio. If not enjoy it as such.    Buyer pays shipping.
